The Decemberists - "Rise to Me"

The Decemberists - "Rise To Me"

I don't know this song....I know this!

What do all these words mean?  These streambirds, all the valleys are full?

*She starts dancing with her shoulders moving side to side.*

It rises on me.  He's going to stand by ground, and its going to blow me down.  He's saying, 'Oh Henry, can you hear me?' It means look at me.  The boy wants you to stand by me and to go down down down.  And now it's just music. It sounds like a trumpet and drums...

Now they're both singing. Now the boy wants to hear her say something.

*Starts singing along.*

It's blowing him down *wiggling fingers down like rain fall*.

....and a guitar, it sounds like!  It makes me want to tidy.

Note from Mum:  I told her this was a special song to me, so I wanted her to listen carefully.  She replied, 'Not it's not.  Songs are not special.'

The Beatles - Lady Madonna

Lady Madonna

He arrives on something with a suitcase. But a BIG suitcase. It sounds like a circus, dananana see how they run deedee marana.

He was stuck in, hmm, I dunno. I think he was stuck in love.

*listen #2*

Who pays the money when it runs? It's about a circus who does lots of things. Someone's flying on a bed! It's so funny.

The music makes me think of going to the circus. IT DOOOOES! Can I watch funny animals now?

Note from Dad: funny animals are cat videos on Youtube. Also, this review was originally going to be on Blackbird, not Lady Madonna, but it started playing this first and Fiona insisted.

The Polyphonic Spree - "Together We're Heavy"

The Polyphonic Spree - "Together We're Heavy"

It sounded sad.  Where does the music come from?  It's getting a bit scarier and sadder.  *Hides her eyes.*  It's making me feel scared.

*Eyes widen and she smiles.*  It's getting happier now!  And it sounds like somebody's meeted [sic].

It sounds like lots of different and different songs.  It sounds like some happy and some sad.

Frightened Rabbit - Swim Until You Can't See Land

Frightened Rabbit - Swim Until You Can't See Land

The start sounds like people making noise. Someone's in the ocean, and something disappeared to him.

It put a picture in my head of someone standing in the ocean, and they're singing about swimming until he can't see why he's swimming any more.

*Fiona asks at this point to listen to it again, closing her eyes and dancing with the beat*

He knows the rest of himself!

*Fiona starts singing, loudly, SWIM UNTIL YOU CAN'T SEE WHY I SWIM.*

I think he's singing in a temple, where people are trying to raise money for the poor. People are singing and making music, he is on a stage I think. I think he's on a stage. Nothing else.

Is that the man who is singing the song (referring to the Youtube video at the top)? WOAH, he's handsome.

*runs off giggling*

Eels - My Beloved Monster

Eels - My Beloved Monster

I think it was good, and I know that a person has met a monster. The song sounded like, when they were really noisy, someone found a gorilla and it looked like a monster. I know that they go everywhere and every weather!

Dismemberment Plan - "Life of Possibilities"

Dismemberment Plan - "Life of Possibilities"

It makes me feel like a boy is doing something, but it's kinda difficult to him.

It sounds happy in my ears.

I don't know what the "secret" was.  I know he doesn't know the way.  It makes me think of things that are coming out new.

I like it.

Imogen Heap - "Say Goodnight and Go"

Imogen Heap - "Say Goodnight and Go"

I like it. I like it. I do actually. I want that song all over again. Again again again.  I love it.

Note from Mum:  I won't let her watch the video again.  I asked her what the song was about, she looked at me like I was an idiot and said, 'A wind-up toy.'  Lesson learned.

Also, don't forget to leave a comment!

Jeff Buckley - "Last Goodbye"

Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye

*Fiona does a slow boogie to the intro, then giggles and plays air guitar*

The wife has to leave to somewhere else, and the wife wants to kiss him. Now they're playing instruments in the background. I know what he's singing! I think he has magic, because I heard him saying it.

It makes me think of a boy and a girl who're about to meet, but they're too far from each other and never saw each other. But they wanted to marry each other. It makes that picture in my head.

The music sounds like people and the kids are making music in the background to make their mum and dad happier, but mum and dad couldn't marry each other.

Magnetic Fields - "Sweet Lovin' Man"

Magnetic Fields - Sweet Lovin' Man

I know that song. And I think the sun rises on me everyday. And I think that two people are in love. That's all. And I know that people are traveling away.

The Flaming Lips - "Waiting For Superman"

The Flaming Lips - Waiting For Superman

I thought that people were meeting, but they never saw each other again. That's all. I liked the song at the beginning.

Note from Dad: Fiona got bored here, put the headphones back on my head, jumped off my lap and went to play Spore on her DS. More next time!
